Dr Feuerstein was born in England and studied medicine at the University of London and Business Management at Cambridge University. He completed a rotating internship in general and trauma surgery at the Tel Aviv University Tel Hashomer Teaching Hospital before serving as combat physician in two elite units of the Israeli Navy (where he is still a reserve officer, with the rank of Captain).

He moved to the USA in 2002 and completed an internship and residency in Family Medicine at the Columbia University/Stamford Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He then spent two years studying with Dr. Andrew Weil as part of his Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona’s School of Medicine.

He recently served for 14 years as the director of Integrative Medicine at Stamford Hospital where he ran an insurance based consultation service using nutrition, hypnosis, acupuncture, botanicals and stress management to help treat chronic medical problems such as obesity, diabetes, elevated cholesterol hypertension, coronary heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, depression and anxiety and seeing over 40,000 integrative medicine patients

Dr Feuerstein works as a medical teaching attending at Greenwich Hospital and is a Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University in New York City. He received certification in Medical Acupuncture from SUNY Downstate and is also certified in clinical hypnosis through a two-year training under the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. He also holds a license as a homeopathic physician from the state of Connecticut

He has publish over 30 peer-reviewed studies articles and poster presentations, has won multiple awards for medical research and education, and is a castle Connelly, New York magazine and Connecticut magazine Top Doctor.  He is  the cohost of the Internet show "Condition Kitchen on Everyday Health (Site gets 60 million views Monthly)
He is the author of "Dr Joe’s Man Diet", Page Street / Macmillan 2015 and now the co-author of  "The Cannabinoid Cookbook", Mango Publishing, 2022.
