Surviving the Holidays with Food Allergies – Need to Know for 2024 – Shahzad Mustafa, MD

Food allergies are on the rise the past 20 years, with 200,000 patients requiring emergency care for food-based allergic reactions annually.

With the Holidays coming up, and many of us surrounded by food allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, seeds, soy, we need to know what we are eating and what to stay away from.

And what to do to avoid allergic reactions and what to do in case of a severe response to a food we’ve just eaten.  It’s a big job for parents to work with allergic kids and keep them safe, especially when the kids are elsewhere.

Today, we cover all this with Dr. Shahzad Mustafa, MD, the Chief of Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology at Rochester Regional Health, and Margaret, mother of 16 year-old Matthew who lives with food allergies.  Learn more with us.
